ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR Second Vice-President, Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, yesterday graced the 3rd Forum for Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), urging participants to strengthen collaboration in addressing challenges and improving service delivery in public offices.
“I am pleased to join you at this event, which brings together the heads of institutions and CEOs from both the Union and Zanzibar governments, aiming to foster operational collaboration in addressing the various challenges faced by citizens in the sectors you manage,” said Mr Abdulla.
The annual forum is part of the activities marking the 61st anniversary of the Zanzibar Revolution of 1964, which will culminate on Sunday in Pemba.
Mr Abdulla emphasised the critical role CEOs play in helping both governments address challenges faced by communities.
He noted that the forum is an opportunity to enhance productivity, efficiency and skills, as well as foster mentorship, advisory services and crosssectoral collaboration among leaders.
The forum also aims to strengthen productive relationships beyond the government, with stakeholders from various sectors, and facilitate soft consultations for essential improvements.
He said that the decision made during last year’s CEOs Forum to hold the event annually, alongside the Zanzibar Revolution celebrations aligns with the forum’s objectives.

Mr Abdulla further stated that by convening, CEOs will continue the efforts of the sixth and eighth phase governments, working diligently and with integrity to achieve institutional goals, enhance service delivery, and drive economic growth.
“I take this opportunity to re-emphasise to the leaders of public institutions and to Tanzanians at large to utilise this forum to learn, share experiences, and address challenges in service delivery while adhering to the principles of good governance and the proper use of public resources,” the Second Vice President added.
Speaking at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Unguja West B District, he asserted that the implementation of strategies arising from the forum would contribute to significant achievements in the near future.
Additionally, he urged CEOs to support the efforts of the country’s top leaders by embracing the philosophy of the 4Rs – Reconciliation, Resilience, Reforms, and Rebuilding – aimed at fostering lasting peace, stability, and sustainable economic development.
The Zanzibar Second Vice President also directed CEOs in Zanzibar to expedite the formation and legalisation of their chapter, ensuring that the current Tanzania forum operates efficiently to achieve its objectives.
In his opening remarks at the forum, the Zanzibar Minister for Trade and Industrial Development, Mr Omar Said Shaaban, noted that the CEOs Forum plays a crucial role in overseeing and planning development strategies while addressing challenges to improve community services.
“This aligns with the thoughts and philosophies of the founders of the Zanzibar Revolution of 1964, led by the late Abeid Amani Karume,” Mr Shaaban remarked.
Earlier, the Chairperson of TANTRADE, Ms Latifa Mohamed Khamis, stated that the forum provides an opportunity for its members to gain insights that will enhance their experience and assist them in achieving both institutional and national goals.
Speaking on the sidelines of the one-day forum, the Managing Director of Tanzania Standard (Newspapers) Limited (TSN), Ms Asha Dachi, remarked that the forum offers a platform for discussing issues that will facilitate efficient operations, bringing development and benefits to the people on both sides of the Union, while empowering organisations to effectively contribute to national development.
