PSC to hear 108 appeals in 19-day session

DODOMA: THE Public Service Commission (PSC) is set to hear and deliver rulings on a total of 108 appeals and complaints filed by public servants during its 19-day sitting scheduled to begin today.
Speaking to reporters in Dodoma over the weekend, Acting Secretary of the Commission, Mr John Mbisso said the session, which will run until October 17th this year, will be held at the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF) Conference Hall in Njedengwa. It will mark the Commission’s first sitting for the 2025/2026 financial year.
He noted that the PSC is legally empowered to handle such cases under the Public Service Act (Cap 298, Revised Edition 2023) and the Public Service Regulations of 2022.

According to Mr Mbisso, the meeting will also allow appellants or respondents who have requested to appear before the Commission to present their arguments and provide further clarifications, in accordance with Regulation 62(1) of the Public Service Regulations.
In addition to hearing appeals, the Commission will also table and review implementation reports of its duties for the third and fourth quarters of the 2024/2025 financial year.
Highlighting the significance of the session, Mr Mbisso emphasised that it underscores the Commission’s accountability role in ensuring public service operations comply with established laws, regulations, procedures and guidelines that promote fairness and transparency.
In a related development, the Acting Secretary also inaugurated an internal working session of the Commission, during which he called for a review of internal guidelines to ensure continuous improvement and better alignment with the evolving demands and challenges facing public servants.
