Prof Assad sees economic growth in Samia’s 4-year term

MOROGORO: THE Vice Chancellor of the Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM) and retired Auditor General (CAG) Professor Mussa Juma Assad, has said that the current economic situation in Tanzania for these four years of the sixth phase of the government under Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan is good compared to previous years, with economic growth continuing at a rapid pace and inflation at satisfactory levels.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the Academic Conference to discuss the Implementation of an Inclusive Economy towards Vision 2050, organized by MUM in collaboration with the Public-Private Partnership Center (PPPC), Professor Assad said the country’s economy has grown by an average of 6 percent in the past four years, which has helped Tanzanians continue to obtain their basic needs such as food, education and other necessities.

“In general, Tanzania’s economy has been growing at an average of six percent. GDP, the rise and fall of the national income, has been stable compared to neighboring countries. The economic situation is better than in Kenya and Rwanda,” said Professor Assad.

Professor Assad said that the current economic indicators show a better ability of citizens to manage their lives compared to previous years, which demonstrates the strength of the country’s economy.

Professor Assad also explained the challenge of young university graduates lacking practical skills, noting that the problem is not being part of the economy, but lacking job skills, saying that young people who graduate from universities should be given practical skills training after completing their studies.
