President Samia’s 60m/- boost for Pamba Day praised

MWANZA: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has been praised for her generous support of Pamba Day, a colourful event held at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza over the weekend.

President Suluhu contributed 60m/- to enhance the festival, underscoring her commitment to advancing sports in the country.

The event began with the introduction of players and technical staff and culminated in a friendly match between Pamba FC and Burundi’s Vital’O, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Minister for Defence Stergomena Tax, who was the guest of honour, highlighted President Suluhu’s significant contributions.

“President Suluhu provided 50m/- for the event’s preparation and an additional 10m/- to ensure the players enjoyed refreshments after the match,” Tax said.

Tax emphasised the vital role of sports in fostering international relationships, noting the participation of the Burundian team Vital’O.

“This substantial invest ment in sports not only enhances our events but also opens doors for personal and communal growth.

I am thrilled to see the Pamba veterans who inspired us with their competitive spirit when I was a student here. I hope the current team will achieve similar success in the Premier League,” she added.

Earlier, Deputy Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports Hamis Mwinjuma announced that Kirumba Stadium is set to undergo a major renovation to meet FIFA and CAF standards.

“The renovation work will begin soon and once completed, Kirumba Stadium will be equipped to host major football events,” he stated.

Pamba FC will launch their 2024/25 league season by hosting Tanzania Prisons at CCM Kirumba Stadium on Friday.

Their next league fixture will be against Dodoma Jiji at the same venue on 24th August, before travelling to Dar es Salaam to face Azam FC on October 21st.
