Premier clinic launched at Mloganzila

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA has taken a bold step toward revolutionising its healthcare system with the launch of the Premier Clinic at Mloganzila Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility poised to transform access to specialised medical services and significantly reduce the need for patients to seek treatment abroad.

Officially inaugurated last week, the Premier Clinic offers a comprehensive range of high-level medical services, including kidney, liver and hip transplants; brain and spinal surgeries; neurological and paediatric care; cancer treatment; reconstructive surgery; emergency and trauma services; vascular procedures; and management of diabetes and hormonal disorders.

“This is a transformative step for our country,” said Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner (RC) Albert Chalamila during the launch.

“The Premier Clinic reflects how far we’ve come in strengthening our health sector, thanks to the visionary leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan. Our people no longer need to fly overseas for life-saving treatments, those services are now available right here at home.”

RC Chalamila commended the government under the Sixth Phase for its unwavering investment in the health sector, citing significant improvements in hospital infrastructure, advanced equipment procurement and the training of local specialists.

He also called on healthcare providers and hospital leadership to maintain high standards of professionalism, innovation and collaboration.

“The work being done here will not only serve today’s generation but will have a lasting impact on generations to come,” he added.

Executive Director of Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), Dr Delilah Kimambo said that the Premier Clinic is built on three core principles: excellence in service delivery, operational efficiency and technological innovation.

“Our vision is to position Tanzania as a centre of excellence in specialised healthcare for East and Central Africa and beyond,” said Dr Kimambo.

“We’re not just serving Tanzanians; we’re opening our doors to the region and the world.”

Representing the MNH Board of Trustees, Dr Khadija Malima reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to upholding international standards and strengthening public trust in the quality of healthcare services.

“We are dedicated to ensuring that this facility continues to grow in both reputation and capacity,” she said.

The National Coordinator for Medical Tourism, in the Ministry of Health, Dr Asha Mahita, noted that Tanzania’s increasingly robust healthcare system is already drawing international patients.

“We are seeing rising interest from outside our borders,” said Dr Ma- hita.

“Our improved capabilities are not only attracting medical tourism into Tanzania but also enabling our specialists to participate in medical missions abroad.”

The launch of the Premier Clinic marks a significant milestone in Tanzania’s journey toward affordable, accessible and world-class healthcare.

It stands as a powerful testament to national progress and the government’s long term vision to make specialised medical care a domestic strength and a regional asset.
