DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans Head Coach, Miguel Gamondi, has lauded his teams’ performance after their hard-fought 1-0 victory over hosts TX Galaxy at Kanyamazane Stadium in Mpumalanga, South Africa on Wednesday.
The decisive goal came from Prince Dube in the 55th minute of the match.
Despite TX Galaxy’s strong efforts to equalise, including a missed penalty in the 73rd minute, Yanga maintained a solid defence throughout the game.
Speaking at a post-match interview, Gamondi praised his team, emphasising the importance of pre-season matches in improving team cohesion and assessing the squad’s readiness for the upcoming season. “Although it was a friendly match, it was a tough game.

We used both our squads effectively, with the first team playing the first half and the second team taking over in the second half,” Gamondi remarked.
Looking ahead to their next challenge against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday, Gamondi emphasised the broader objectives beyond victory.
“These matches are crucial for us to build a cohesive unit where players understand each other’s strengths and adaptability, especially with new additions to the squad,” he added.
Goal-scorer Prince Dube expressed satisfaction with his performance, stating; “It was a tough game, but I am pleased to have contributed with the winning goal.
Our focus now is on continuous improvement and building strong team chemistry as we prepare meticulously for the upcoming season.”
Yanga were earlier defeated 2-1 by Germany’s FC Augsburg, with Jean Baleke who came on as a substitute, scoring their solitary goal through a powerful header.
The team’s participation in the Mpumalanga Cup has provided valuable insights into their squad dynamics and readiness for future competitions.
Next on Yanga’s agenda is a clash with South African giants Kaizer Chiefs in the Toyota Cup on July 28th, where they aim to further refine their strategies and integrate new players effectively.
