PPRA officials directed to observe ethics, integrity
COAST REGION: The Deputy Secretary-General of the Public Service Management and Good Governance, Xavier Mrope, has instructed employees of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) to oversee the use of public funds and assets with integrity and ethics.
Mrope made these remarks during the opening of the Fifth meeting of the Fourth Staff Council of the PPRA, which took place at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School in Kibaha, Pwani Region.
He stated that public servants are required to maintain integrity at all times, alongside managing public funds and resources when providing services, a step that will help control wasteful spending.

“Public servants also have a major responsibility to avoid actions that could tempt them to act against ethical standards as you continue with your duties. There are over 600,000 public servants nationwide, but the population is over 60 million, so I see you have a great responsibility to protect the interests of the citizens,” said Mrope.
Additionally, he mentioned that labor councils are platforms to discuss various issues, including work challenges, which help reduce conflicts in the workplace. He emphasized that any challenges arising should be used as opportunities to solve employees’ issues.
“Labour councils are for discussing your challenges; you must also set an example in your work performance. Continue to provide instructions clearly and correctly, adhering to integrity,” Mrope added.
In another development, Mrope called on the council to discuss ways to strengthen both government and non-government institutions to better understand the correct application of public procurement laws.
