PM urges Tanzanian Editors to bank on the independent commission

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIAN Prime Minister, Dr Mwigulu Nchemba, has urged Tanzanians to unite and remain peaceful as the newly formed independent commission continues to investigate the cause of violence that occurred on October 29, 2025.

He said the incident during the October 29 elections, which caused deaths and injuries to some individuals, should serve as a lesson to the nation.

Dr Nchemba made the remarks today, Tuesday, November 25, 2025, while speaking with editors and reporters at the Mwalimu Nyerere Conference Centre in Dar es Salaam.

“After the elections, violence erupted which cost the lives of some people. In my belief, shedding the blood of an innocent person is a grave matter. My plea is that, in our consciences, we should all desire never to repeat such an event. It leaves us with wounds that do not heal,” said Dr. Nchemba.

Dr. Mwigulu stressed that it is important for all Tanzanians to unite behind President Samia so that the country can fully understand what happened through this commission, which is composed of individuals with expertise and integrity.

“This is not a normal matter; it is not something simple. That is why Her Excellency the President has formed a commission of respected individuals who have long served in fields related to justice and law. We should not fall into the trap of trying to undermine the committee’s credibility,” he added.

He emphasized that everyone is free to have their own opinions, but it is important to recognize that the commission members are trustworthy and highly experienced in legal matters. Therefore, they deserve to be given the space to carry out their work without interference.
