PM Majaliwa to lead runners in NBC Dodoma Marathon, jersey launched

DAR ES SALAAM: The upcoming NBC Dodoma Marathon is set to be a momentous event, with Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa leading over 8,000 participants in the fifth edition of the race on July 28th, 2024.

The national leader’s presence will undoubtedly ignite the spirits of runners from various social groups, including institutions, organizations, local and international competitors, and individual enthusiasts.

Gracing the event organized by the National Bank of Commerce (NBC) in Dar es Salaam yesterday, the bank unveiled a stunning array of jerseys designed to captivate the runners.

It also announced a strategic partnership with Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) to provide drinks at the event as part of entertaining the participants.

On his part, the bank’s Managing Director Theobald Sabi said: “Along with the presence of Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, who has been with us several times in this race, we are delighted to see that various stakeholders are continuing to come forward to support us in this noble course,”.

He added: “Today, we are introducing Serengeti Breweries Limited through their Captain Morgan drink as the main partner for drinks and entertainment before and during the event.”

The MD further emphasized the importance of collaboration between different institutions in achieving a common goal in helping the community grow in sports that provides health fitness, besides creating employment to the youth.

Elaborating, Mr Sabi said that the NBC Dodoma Marathon is more than just a race; it’s a rallying cry for a noble course.

The primary objective of the event is to raise funds for the fight against cervical cancer and provide education sponsorship for midwives, a critical step in improving maternal health across the country.

Speaking about the partnership with NBC, Henry Esiaba, the Marketing and Innovation Director at SBL, expressed the company’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that the participants have an unforgettable experience filled with music, drinks, and festivities.

“As our slogan says, ‘Enjoy Life Every Day, Everywhere,’ that’s how we are determined to ensure that the participants of the NBC Marathon have the opportunity to enjoy music and drinks every day, everywhere, specifically organized for this agenda until the day of the event,” Esiaba said. “The main goal is to celebrate and serve our community while also contributing to the main agenda of this race, which is to save the lives of mothers and children.”

The jerseys designed for the event are a true work of art, showcasing NBC’s dedication to creating a memorable visual experience for the runners. David Raymond, the Head of Marketing at NBC, explained that the five distinct colors – blue, yellow, white, red, and black – cater to the diverse preferences of the participants, while the addition of special reflectors ensures their safety during night-time training and after the race.

“The quality and creativity of these jerseys were given great consideration. We have made an effort to incorporate various markings that aim to create meaning, increase attractiveness, and most importantly, we have added special reflectors for their safety while on the road, especially during night-time training and after the race,” Raymond stated.
