PM Majaliwa to grace special forum to evaluate 5.6tri/- worth mega projects

MWANZA: The Tanzanian Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa, is expected to attend the official opening of a three-day forum that monitors and evaluates all major projects implemented by Tanzania from 2021 to 2025.
Christened the Tanzania Monitoring and Learning Week forum, the event, which takes off here tomorrow, September 10th, has drawn about 1,000 participants from within and outside Tanzania, according to the Mwanza Regional Commissioner, Mr. Said Mtanda.
RC Mtanda briefed the media outlets here today, 9th September 2025, that the monitoring and evaluation is an important weapon to ensure timely and standard implementation of development projects.
“And value for money is well considered,” he said.

According to him, it is a monitoring and evaluation system that leads to thorough implementation of different projects in Mwanza, worth over 5.6 tri/- that has been given by the central government between 2021 and 2025.
Among them are the construction of the John Pombe Magufuli bridge, MV Mwanza, the ferries that will be operating in different islands of Lake Victoria, as well as the Mwanza-Kahama Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) lot, whose implementation is over 60 percent, according to him.
Others are the construction of a regional hospital in Ukerewe District that will be offering specialized services, the central market, the Butimba water source, and various road infrastructures.
According to him, the projects have significant impacts on the Mwanza people and the region, provided that Mwanza contributes about 7.2 percent to the gross domestic product.
