PM lauds WCF for expanding benefit categories from 1 to 7

DAR ES SALAAM: PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has commended the Workers Compensation Fund (WCF) saying its expansion of benefit categories from just one to seven in a 10-year span is a major achievement.
Speaking during the WCF’s 10th anniversary celebrations held today, July 4, 2025, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam, the Prime Minister said the success is a testament to the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers and ensuring safer working conditions.
He listed the seven benefit categories as follows: “These include medical care benefit, temporary disability benefit, permanent disability benefit, dependents’ pension, caregiver’s benefit, rehabilitation benefit, which I will officially launch later today and funeral assistance benefit.”

Additionally, Prime Minister Majaliwa said the compensation rates provided by WCF across both public and private sectors have significantly increased, describing it as a sign of the fund’s growing strength and the Government’s serious commitment to protecting workers’ rights and welfare.
The WCF is a public institution established to provide compensation to workers who suffer occupational injuries, disabilities, or death while performing their job duties.
The celebration was attended by various stakeholders from the labor sector, employer representatives, trade unions, and government officials.
