PM hails Tanzanian MPs heading to the Parliament’s climax

DODOMA: TANZANIAN Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has today, June 26, 2025, delivered a speech to officially close the 19th session of the National Assembly in Dodoma, the Tanzanian capital.
In his address, Prime Minister Majaliwa expressed his gratitude to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, for her valuable guidance, which he said enabled him to effectively fulfill his duties. He also thanked Members of Parliament for their cooperation, unity, and dedication throughout the session, noting that their collective efforts significantly contributed to accelerating national development.
The Prime Minister further called on Tanzania citizens to continue supporting their respective Members of Parliament, emphasizing that MPs have represented the interests of the people and the nation well.
During the 19th session, Parliament discussed key national matters, including the National Economic Status Report for 2024, the National Development Plan for 2025/2026, and the Government’s National Budget for the 2025/2026 fiscal year.

Following the Prime Minister’s closing speech and motion to conclude parliamentary business, President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to officially dissolve the 12th Parliament tomorrow, Friday, June 27, 2025.
The dissolution of Parliament will pave the way for the commencement of the General Election process for the President, Members of Parliament, and Councilors, scheduled to take place in October this year.
This event marks a significant moment in Tanzania’s political calendar, as citizens turn their attention to a democratic process that will determine the leadership of the next government.
