PM calls for timely, quality projects

He made this call yesterday during the inauguration of the Makoba Secondary School in North Unguja, Zanzibar

ZANZIBAR: PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has directed project managers in charge of government initiatives, particularly in the education sector, to ensure that all projects are completed on time and meet the required quality standards in line with allocated funding.

He made this call yesterday during the inauguration of the Makoba Secondary School in North Unguja, Zanzibar. The opening of the school is part of the celebrations marking the 61st anniversary of the Zanzibar Revolution.

The Prime Minister emphasised that the government continues to allocate significant financial resources to the development of the education sector, resulting in improved access to quality education, including the construction of new infrastructure.

He also said that President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Mwinyi, has significantly enhanced the status of the education sector, ensuring the efficient delivery of education services.

“I have no doubt that, under the leadership of Dr Hussein Mwinyi, we are witnessing remarkable progress in expanding educational opportunities across the country.

This is something to be proud of, as it is a direct result of the Zanzibar Revolution, which marks its 61st anniversary,” Mr Majaliwa said.

The Prime Minister further noted that the Zanzibar government has been implementing major reforms in the education sector to ensure effective delivery.

“These reforms include the introduction of a new curriculum aimed at equipping students with practical skills to navigate the rapid changes in science and technology,” he added.

He also said that the government has been executing plans, strategies and deliberate efforts to ensure progress in all sectors, with the goal of providing tangible benefits to the people, without discrimination.

On her part, Zanzibar’s Minister for Education and Vocational Training, Lela Mohammed Mussa, said that President Dr Mwinyi has continued the legacy of the founders of the Zanzibar Revolution by bringing about significant reforms in the education sector
