Platnumz kicks off West Africa tour in Lagos

DAR ES SALAAM: BONGO Flava star Diamond Platnumz will begin a series of end-of-year performances in West Africa yesterday, starting in Lagos, Nigeria.

He is set to headline a major music event organised by leading industry stakeholders.

Following Lagos, Diamond will perform in Sierra Leone on 19 December, a country where he has previously drawn huge crowds and received strong fan support.

The tour will conclude on December 28 in Benin with a grand end-of-year show, marking the close of 2025 and setting the stage for his new projects in 2026.

Diamond, whose real name is Nassibu Abdul, has established himself as one of Africa’s leading musical exports.

Over the years, he has won multiple awards, including the MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act in 2023 and several honours at the Channel O Music Video Awards and HiPipo Music Awards. His international appeal is equally impressive.

Diamond has performed across Europe, selling out shows in countries including Germany, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Finland and the UK, where he became the first East African solo artist to headline London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Through these achievements, Diamond Platnumz has helped elevate Tanzanian music on the global stage.
