DAR ES SALAAM: THE Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, and the Government Spokesperson, Gerson Msigwa, has announced that the government plans to install security cameras at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam. The technology is expected to enhance the identification of individuals responsible for damaging the facility’s infrastructure.
Mr. Msigwa made the remarks during the ongoing meeting between the newly appointed Minister of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, Professor Palamagamba Kabudi, and stakeholders in the media and broadcasting sector in Dar es Salaam.
“We want to make sure we identify the people responsible so that they can be held accountable for their actions,” Msigwa said.
The Permanent Secretary added that the government is working to improve the media industry by amending certain media laws to bring about positive changes.
Furthermore, Msigwa noted that the media sector has been contributing to government revenue through taxes, advertisements, and various services.
On another note, he stated that over 1,200 media outlets have been registered, creating job opportunities for various groups, including broadcasters and technicians.
