Another project under the examination is the construction of the modern Tandale Market, valued at 10.25bn/-.

Regarding the market, Nyakizee stated, “The contractor has been advised to ensure that the project is completed on time and to specified standards.”

The PCCB is also monitoring the 662.95m/- Burumawe-Bunju Road construction project, with the contractor being advised to use the additional time effectively to complete it.

Other projects include the construction of four classrooms at Ubungo NHC Primary School, valued at 119m/-, and the drilling of three wells with pump installation and water infrastructure construction in Ubungo Municipality, worth 495m/-.

“We have identified certain shortcomings, and those responsible have been advised to rectify them. We are closely monitoring these projects to ensure they are completed as planned,” Nyakizee emphasized.

The quarterly report noted that PCCB in Kinondoni has also analyzed the electronic revenue collection system (POS) in Ubungo Municipality, finding that many revenue collectors are not using it as per their contract with the director’s office.

In the period ending September this year, PCCB in Kinondoni conducted two workshops for social welfare officers and gender desk police officers to enhance their skills in combating corruption in their respective fields.

The PCCB held these workshops in response to reports showing that children in Kinondoni are highly vulnerable to sexual abuse, with bribery identified as a factor hindering legal actions against perpetrators. To address this, the Kinondoni Regional Office of PCCB convened a workshop focused on workplace corruption.

For the period between October and December this year, Nyakizee stated that PCCB in Kinondoni will continue educating the public on the harmful effects of corruption in the local government elections.

He also highlighted that PCCB is engaging youth in the fight against corruption, encouraging their participation in electing responsible leaders in the upcoming elections.

“PCCB in Kinondoni urges the public to cooperate with the authority by reporting corruption-related issues by dialing 113,” he concluded.
