DAR ES SALAAM: THE Alliance for Change and Transparency (ACTWazalendo) has launched its internal process for members to declare their intentions to contest various positions in the upcoming 2025 general election.
ACT Secretary General, Ado Shaibu made the announcement yesterday during a press briefing at the party’s headquarters in Dar es salaam.
He encouraged all eligible ACT-Wazalendo members to declare their candidacy in accordance with the procedures established by the party.
“The ACT-Wazalendo party is pleased to inform the public that the internal process for members to declare their intentions to contest various positions in the 2025 general election has officially kicked off” Said Mr Shaibu.
He added: “I urge all qualified ACT-Wazalendo members to declare their intentions to run for positions such as councillor, special councillor seats, Member of Parliaments, special seats MPs and the Presidency in accordance to the prescribed procedures”.
Mr Shaibu said that the step follows a directive from the party’s National Executive Council, which mandated the establishment of a clear process for members to declare their candidacy for various leadership positions.
He insisted that the party remains committed to its tradition of conducting election processes grounded in the principles of transparency, democracy and equality.
Mr Shaibu also outlined key requirements for prospective candidates, including the necessity of registering at the appropriate level by completing a special registration form.
“Candidates for councillor and special councillor seats will register at the ward level, those seeking parliamentary and special parliamentary seats will register at the constituency level and presidential aspirants will register at the party’s headquarters,” he explained.
He noted that candidates are encouraged to publicly declare their intentions through various channels, such as speaking with the media and utilising the party’s social media platforms.
Moreover, he instructed regional, constituency and ward leaders to ensure that candidates are given the opportunity to announce their candidacies at party offices.
Mr Shaibu further urged candidates to carefully assess their qualifications for the positions they seek, in accordance with the criteria established by the party’s National Executive Council.

Mr Shaibu further emphasised that the party will conduct interviews with candidates prior to the official candidate selection process.
He added that the procedures and the interview panel for parliamentary and presidential candidates will be announced at a later date.
Interviews, he noted, will be open to the public and broadcast across various media platforms.
