PARTIES MANIFESTO PROMISES: ACT-Wazalendo vows ward progress

MWANZA: ACT-WAZALENDO councillorship candidate for Igogo Ward in Mwanza Region, Mr Said Said, has vowed to address challenges of poor road infrastructure, water shortages and youth unemployment if elected in the October 29 General Election.

Speaking during a campaign rally at Igogo on Wednesday, Mr Said urged residents to turn out in large numbers and vote for him, pledging to work closely with the Nyamagana City Council to find lasting solutions to the ward’s pressing issues.

He said improving access to clean water and creating employment opportunities for young people would be among his top priorities, alongside upgrading dilapidated roads to enhance mobility and spur economic activities in the area.

“Our biggest challenge in Igogo Ward is the condition of the roads, particularly in the neighbourhoods of Malulu, Kwimba, Azimio, Bugando, Minja, Mrungushi, Mwenge, Jiwe, and Bugando,” he said. He added that many of these roads become completely impassable during the rainy season due to flooding.

He also promised to build a modern market to give Igogo traders a proper place to conduct their business. Mr Said said he will engage residents of Kwimba Street to clear some houses to make way for the new market.

Regarding water challenges, he noted that reliable access is currently limited to Kwimba Street, leaving many residents without timely access to water.

Mr Said further pledged to open a technical college to provide Igogo youths with education in automotive and home electrical engineering. He also promised to reduce loan insurance for women to make loan repayment easier, and to ensure women and youths can access the 10 per cent loans allocated by the council. He added that he would oversee the implementation of all development projects in the ward.

Meanwhile, ACT-Wazalendo parliamentary candidate for Nyamagana Constituency, Ms Esther Thomas, urged residents to elect Mr Said, emphasising their shared commitment to driving development in the area. She also pledged to promote a supportive economic environment for traders by eliminating taxes and duties that hinder entrepreneurship.
