Over 400 public, private staff get entrepreneurship skills

DODOMA: OVER 400 staff from different national security organs, public and private institutions and the citizens from various social groups in Dodoma Region have attended a special training programme that aimed to disseminate key knowledge and skills on entrepreneurship.

The practical-based free training has been organised by Kanisa Halisi la Mungu Baba in cooperation with the police force, with an eye to impart the participants with useful skills pertaining to different facets of entrepreneurship.

The entrepreneurship incorporated production of carpets, batik, liquid soaps, product’s packaging, handwashing soaps, wedding cakes, shampoo, as well as vegetable processing, to mention but a few.

Opening the training, Minister for Minerals, Anthony Mavunde, who serves as lawmaker for Dodoma Urban constituency hailed the church for collaborating with the police force in organising the vital training.

He said the region was offering numerous potential economic opportunities, but most of the Dodoma dwellers were short of skills to assist them take advantage of the available opportunities.

“Being the country’s government administrative hub, Dodoma Region keeps on witnessing increased population on daily bases leading to increased demand for various social services and human products,” he said.

With the skills to be acquired in the four-day training, the minister observed that the participants will stand on a positive side to engage in self- economic projects to manufacture basic domestic products and sell at profit.

“High human population means high demand for domestic products and thus, make sure you use this platform effectively to absorb relevant knowledge and skills,” Mr Mavunde challenged the participants.

He said the sixth phase government was working to create a conducive environment for doing business and provide capital loans to youth and women in order for them to venture into fruitful economic projects of which, entrepreneurship skills must come first.
