October 29 is a public holiday, Dr Samia approves it
DAR ES SALAAM: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has approved October 29, the General Election day to be a public holiday for both public servants and private sector workers.
Statement issued by the Chief Secretary, Ambassador Dr Moses Kusiluka, noted that the aim is to allow eligible citizens to exercise their constitutional right to vote for the President, Members of Parliament, and Councilors.
The president’s approval follows information released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which announced that October 29 will be a public holiday so as to enable all eligible citizens to cast their votes for the selection of their leaders.

Yesterday, Zanzibar’s President, Hussein Ali Mwinyi, also announced a public holiday for all Zanzibaris on the same date for the same reasons.
Tanzania is expected to hold its General Election on October 29 this year for both Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar.
