Obstacles at 100m-Muhoro Bridge removed as construction hits 48 percent

IKWIRIRI: The Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA), Engineer Florian Kabaka, has urged citizens to maintain bridge and road infrastructure, as they are important pillars in achieving economic activities.
Engineer Kabaka said this during a visit to visit the construction of the bridge as well as the construction of asphalt roads with a length of 4 km. being built in Ikwiriri town in the district.
He also commended the government for facilitating the Agency to implement the construction of the 100-meter Muhoro bridge in Rufiji district by continuing to remove infrastructure obstacles.
“I commend the government for this facilitation for TARURA, even the residents are grateful for its presence for opening infrastructure everywhere. I applaud the government for continuing to provide funds to TARURA, and I also applaud the management of TARURA for its management”.

In addition, he has urged the people of the area to maintain the bridge and all surrounding equipment, and not to tamper with the bridge embankment as it is going to ensure their communication throughout the year, especially during the rainy season.
“This bridge is going to eliminate a problem that has lasted for many years but also open up opportunities for them to build their economy and the Nation as a whole”.
He added that TARURA continues to remove obstacles to transport and transportation by increasing the road network so that citizens can continue to access services and work to boost the economy of Tanzanians.
And, the TARURA Coastal Region Manager, Engineer Leopold Runji, said that the project is going to help the people since most of the activities in the region are blue economy as well as mixed crop farming, so the completion of the bridge will remove obstacles for the residents of Muhoro.
At the same time, the Resident Engineer of the project, Emmanuel Mahimbo, said that the construction of the bridge has reached 48 percent, where they have completed the construction of two culvert boxes, four pillars, and are now adding another pillar.
He added that their current work plan is to complete the bridge section by January 2016 so that they can continue with the work of completing the road. In order to keep up with the pace, the contractor has started introducing machinery and adding staff to keep up with the schedule.
