NSSF boosts welfare with energy initiative

MBEYA: THE National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has strengthened its commitment to improving the welfare of Tanzanians by distributing gas stoves to selected food vendors, voluntary scheme members and retirees in Mbeya Region.
The initiative is part of the Fund’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme and aligns with efforts to promote clean energy use nationwide.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mbeya Regional Commissioner, Mr Beno Malisa, urged private sector employers to comply with the legal requirement to remit their employees’ social security contributions on time.
“Timely contribution is not only a legal obligation but also a demonstration of employers’ care for their staff,” he said.
He added: “Through NSSF benefits, members ‘add colour to their stardom’ enjoying welfare that safeguards their present and future.” He also encouraged self-employed individuals, especially youth and smallscale entrepreneurs, to join the NSSF voluntary scheme to access a range of benefits, including healthcare, maternity, old-age and survivors’ benefits.
Mr Malisa commended NSSF for supporting President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s agenda on clean energy use, describing the initiative as a clear example of how the Fund actively touches citizens’ lives.

Meanwhile, Mbeya District Commissioner, Mr Solomon Itunda applauded NSSF for its active role in providing social security education to various groups, particularly small-scale entrepreneurs.
Earlier, NSSF Director of Operations, Mr Omary Mziya reiterated the Fund’s commitment to continuing public education and sensitisation campaigns, ensuring that every Tanzanian “adds colour to their stardom” through NSSF.
