No fatality as vessel capsizes in Lake Victoria
MWANZA: A LAKE Victoria ferry plying between Mwanza and Gozba Island in Kagera Region, MV Clarias capsized at Mwanza North Port on Sunday.
The Marine Services Company Limited (MSCL) Public Information Officer, Abdulrahman Ally, said there were no casualties and no cargo loss was reported.
He said the cause of the mishap could not be immediately established yesterday as the vessels safely docked at the Mwanza Port with no any identified technical faults.

Around the dawn, he added, the port staff heard the tension on dock lines/ ropes, only to come across that the ship and see it lying on its left side in Lake as it was slowly sinking.
“As we speak now, a team of experts is at the scene to pull out the ship. It will then go for thorough investigation to identify the reason behind the accident,” he said.
The MSCL assured members of the public that all its vessels were safe.
