NEMC awarded ‘Stories of Change’ for 2024

DAR ES SALAAM: The National Environment Management Council (NEMC) has received the prestigious “Stories of Change” accolade in the Government Institutions category for its outstanding public communication and accountability in addressing environmental issues in 2024.

The award was presented by Jamii Forums at a ceremony at a hotel in Dar es Salaam, attended by dignitaries, government officials, and ambassadors.

In the commendations, Maxence Melo, CEO of Jamii Forums, praised NEMC for its proactive approach in responding to environmental concerns raised on social media.

This engagement has enhanced accountability and fostered community involvement in environmental management.

On educational initiatives, NEMC has been pivotal in educating the public on critical issues, including: Noise pollution control; hazardous waste management; waste segregation at the source and submissions and Recognition.

Here, a total of 1,800 submissions were received for the 2024 awards, underscoring NEMC’s commitment to environmental stewardship and public service.

This award marks the fourth iteration of the “Stories of Change” awards, which celebrate institutions that significantly contribute to societal development through impactful communication and initiatives.
