NECTA sees rise in Std 4 pass by 2.67, Form Two by 1.52 percent

DAR ES SALAAM: The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has announced the results of the National Assessment for Standard Four pupils, showing that the pass rate for Standard Four has increased by 2.67 percent, while the pass rate for Form Two rose by 1.52 percent.

NECTA also noted that in 2026, Form Two students will be assessed using an improved curriculum.

While announcing the results, NECTA Executive Secretary Prof. Said Mohamed said that a total of 1,583,686 pupils were registered to sit for the Standard Four National Assessment, including 818,673 girls (51.69 percent) and 765,013 boys (48.31 percent).

For the Form Two National Assessment, a total of 898,718 students were registered, comprising 497,891 girls (55.40 percent) and 400,827 boys (44.60 percent). Of these, 811,575 students (91.26 percent) sat for the examination in 6,223 secondary schools, while 77,689 students (8.74 percent) did not participate in the assessment.

Furthermore, NECTA has nullified the results of 41 pupils who were found to have engaged in examination malpractice and eight pupils who used abusive language in their answer scripts during the Standard Four National Assessment.

Similarly, NECTA cancelled the results of 29 students involved in examination malpractice and 11 students who wrote abusive language in their scripts during the Form Two National Assessment.
