NCBA Lugalo Junior Golf Tournament shifted to August 3

DAR ES SALAAM: FOLLOWING the resounding success of last year’s edition, the NCBA Lugalo Junior Golf Tournament returns with even greater anticipation, now rescheduled to tee off on 3rd August 2025 at the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) Lugalo Golf Club in Dar es Salaam.
Organisers have moved the date from the initially planned July 27th due to logistical considerations, aiming to ensure a smoother and more enriching experience for all participants.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam yesterday, tournament organiser and Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) Junior Development Committee member Maryanne Mugo confirmed that preparations are in full swing ahead of next weekend’s competition.
Held under the prestigious NCBA Junior Golf Series, the tournament continues to build on the foundation laid by previous editions, focusing on nurturing junior talent and promoting golf among young players across Tanzania and beyond.
“The 2024 edition attracted an impressive turnout of young golfers aged between 6 and 18 years, representing clubs from across the country,” said Mugo. “This year, we expect many junior players, competing across various age categories also.”
She added that the tournament will maintain its stroke play format, beginning at 8:00 am and will serve not only as a developmental platform but also as a national qualifier for regional youth golf assignments.
“This year’s event promises enhanced organisation, tougher competition and stronger mentorship. We aim to inspire a new generation of champions,” she said.
“Golf is more than a sport, it instills life skills, discipline, patience and character.”
Mugo also reminded that registration remains open, urging parents and guardians to sign up their junior golfers and support a growing movement that’s helping transform the landscape of youth golf in Tanzania.
