DODOMA: THE 2024 National Basketball League (NBL) has spotlighted the outstanding talent of Tanzania’s top basketball players, with exceptional individual performances across both the men’s and women’s categories.
The tournament, which runs from November 10th to November 20th, 2024, at Chinangali Park in Dodoma, has not only offered intense competition but also showcased the rising stars of Tanzanian basketball.
In the men’s category, Dar City’s Shin Brownlee has emerged as the star of the tournament, leading the scoring charts with an impressive 135 points.
His performance helped propel his team to the finals, where they will face ABC (Army Basketball Club), who secured their spot with standout contributions from Enrico Maengela (104 points) and Elias Nshishi (90 points).
Brownlee also shone beyond the scoring charts, ranking among the leaders in three-point shooting with 9 successful attempts.
However, it was Alpha Mchala of Kisasa who led the men’s division in three-pointers, with 11. Defensively, Elias Nshishi of ABC dominated, grabbing 83 rebounds and adding 17 blocks, establishing himself as a force on both ends of the court.
In assists, Gilbert Nijimbere of Dar City led the men’s category with 29 assists, supported by teammates Alinani Andrew (25 assists) and Amini Mkosa (23 assists), cementing Dar City’s dominance in ball movement.
Over in the women’s tournament, Noela Renatus of Vijana Queens was the top scorer with 91 points, narrowly edging out Evelyn Nakiyingu of Fox Divas (89 points). Jesca Julius of JKT rounded out the top three scorers with 85 points.

In three-point shooting, Nakiyingu led the pack with 16 successful attempts, while Tumaini Ndossi of Vijana Queens made 12.
The women’s assist leader was Jesca Lenga of DB Lioness, who tallied 42 assists, while Nelly Samora of Fox Divas (26) and Noela Renatus (20) completed the top three.
Rebounding was a strong suit for Taudenciah Oluoch of DB Lioness, who grabbed 64 boards, followed by Tumaini Ndossi (56) and Anamarie Tushabe (54) of Fox Divas.
Defensively, Oluoch continued to impress with 10 blocks, closely followed by Tumwagile Joshua (9) and Tushabe (9), solidifying DB Lioness’s strong defensive presence.
The NBL 2024 has been an electrifying display of basketball talent, further fuelled by a partnership between the Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) and betPawa, which saw over 144m/- distributed among the winning teams from group stages to the finals.
As the tournament heads toward its final showdown, fans can expect more thrilling action from Tanzania’s brightest basketball stars.
