NBC reinforces commitment to drive inclusive economic growth

DAR ES SALAAM: The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, including government bodies, business communities, investors, entrepreneurs, employees, farmers, and other social groups.

This partnership aims to accelerate national economic growth by delivering inclusive, innovative, and demand-driven financial solutions tailored to the needs of different economic sectors.

NBC emphasized this position during a high-profile engagement at the Usagara Grounds in Tanga Region, where the ongoing National Financial Services Week (NFSW) Exhibitions brought together key industry stakeholders.

NBC Managing Director, Mr. Theobald Sabi, highlighted the Bank’s role in delivering inclusive financial solutions during the visit of the Deputy Minister for Finance, Mr. Laurent Luswetula. NBC is a key sponsor of the event, officially inaugurated by the Deputy Minister.

Addressing exhibition attendees, Mr Sabi underscored NBC’s continuous efforts to design, refine, and expand its portfolio of financial products and services to meet the evolving needs of diverse clients. “Our offerings span retail and corporate banking, financing solutions for entrepreneurs and SMEs, agricultural, commercial, and industrial loans, as well as specialized services for institutions and large-scale strategic projects,” he said.

He added, “Sustainable economic growth relies on strong, resilient, and inclusive financial systems. At NBC, we are committed to providing customer-focused solutions through advanced digital banking platforms, affordable credit facilities, and professional advisory services. These tools enable clients to grow their businesses and enhance productivity, supporting broader economic development.”

Mr. Sabi also highlighted NBC’s significant investments in modern financial technologies (FinTech) to expand access to banking services, particularly for rural and underserved communities. Simultaneously, the Bank continues to strengthen its collaboration with the government to implement national development policies and programs effectively.

Deputy Minister for Finance, Mr Laurent Luswetula, commended NBC and other financial institutions for their contribution to strengthening Tanzania’s financial sector and promoting inclusive, sustainable economic growth. “The Government encourages financial institutions to provide products and services with a direct, tangible impact on citizens’ lives. We welcome increased investment in digital financial services, support for productive sectors, and stronger collaboration with stakeholders to drive economic development,” he said.

He emphasized the Government’s commitment to creating an enabling policy and regulatory environment that allows banks to play an effective role in fostering economic growth, generating employment, and improving citizens’ livelihoods. Mr. Luswetula also urged the public to maximize the use of available financial services, including those provided by NBC.

At the regional level, NBC Tanga Branch Manager, Mr Moses Charles, highlighted the Bank’s strategic positioning to stimulate economic growth in the region by leveraging opportunities in agriculture, trade, SMEs, as well as port and transportation sector investments.

Mr. Charles emphasized NBC’s focus on empowering farmers and entrepreneurs through tailored credit facilities, user-friendly digital banking solutions, and financial literacy programs. “These initiatives simplify financial transactions, enhance public awareness, and promote effective use of banking services,” he said.
