Natalie to represent Tanzania at US Kids Golf

ARUSHA: TANZANIAN junior golfer, Natalie Isaya from Kilimanjaro Golf Club in Arusha, is set to start the year on a high note by participating in the US Kids Golf Invitation tournament.

The three-day event will kick off today and conclude on Monday at Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club in Nairobi, Kenya. As the tournament begins, Natalie is ready to showcase her exceptional skills and determination while proudly representing Tanzania.

Natalie’s mother, Rehema Bahati, who accompanied her to Nairobi, expressed her excitement about her daughter’s participation in this prestigious tournament for the first time.

“I’m thrilled to see my daughter compete in such an esteemed event. It’s a fantastic opportunity for her to challenge herself and showcase the hard work she has put in over the past months,” Rehema said.

At nine years old, Natalie will compete in a nine-hole category over three days, totaling 27 holes. The event features top junior golfers aged 6 to 18 from across Africa. Rehema shared that they arrived in Nairobi four days before the tournament to allow Natalie ample time to practice and familiarise herself with the course.

“Natalie’s passion for golf drives her every step of the way. I am committed to supporting her dreams. Competing at this level enables her to push her limits, learn from other talented players, and strive for excellence. It’s not just about winning; it’s about personal growth,” she emphasised.

Rehema also highlighted the rigorous preparation leading up to the tournament, noting that Natalie has been fine-tuning her skills to deliver her best performance.

“Bringing her to Nairobi early has allowed her to focus on both her strengths and areas for improvement. We’ve dedicated extra hours to ensure she is ready,” she added.

Last month, Natalie participated in the inaugural NCBA Lugalo Juniors Invitational at the TPDF Lugalo Golf Club in Dar es Salaam. That experience fuelled her aspirations for success on bigger stages.

“The primary goal is for Natalie to perform her best and hopefully secure a top position. Beyond that, we hope to inspire young athletes and their parents, by showing that with dedication and passion, they can achieve their dreams,” Rehema expressed.

Balancing preparation and relaxation has been challenging, but Rehema stressed the importance of staying focused and energised for the competition.

Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) President, Queen Siraki, commended Natalie’s parents for their dedication to nurturing her talent, which aligns with the union’s vision of building a strong junior and senior national golf squad. Siraki also wished Natalie success in her tournament, emphasising the importance of such events in shaping future golf stars.
