Nape, Makamba OUT as Samia makes minor cabinet reshuffle

Zanzibar: President Samia has revoked the appointments of cabinet ministers; Nape Nnauye and January Makamba.

To fill the vacuum left by the duo, the Head of State has appointed Jerry Silaa and Mahmoud Thabit Kombo as ministers for the Ministry of Information, Communication and Information Technology and Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation respectively.

According to a State House’ press statement issued on Sunday night, July 21, 2024, President Samia has nominated Ambassador Kombo as the Member of Parliament.

Prior to his new roles, the envoy was representing Tanzania in Italy.

Cosato Chumi has been named as the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation.

Mr Chumi takes over from Ambassador Mbarouk Nassor Mbarouk who will be assigned to other duties, the statement added.

On the other hand, President Samia has also appointment Mr Deogratius Ndejembi as the Minister of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements.

Ndejembi replaces Silaa who has been transferred to the docket of Communications.

Also, Mr Ridhiwan Kikwete has been named as the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Labour, Employment, Youth and Persons with Disability).
