Mwinyi vows support for Z’bar entrepreneurs

ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR CCM presidential candidate Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi has pledged to create a more supportive business environment for entrepreneurs, especially women by improving access to capital, providing business training and establishing modern market spaces that promote dignity and stability.
Speaking during a meeting with entrepreneurs on Thursday at Idris Abdulwakil Hall, Kikwajuni in Urban West Region, Dr Mwinyi said his government, if elected will commit to addressing the challenges faced by small business communities across the Isles.
He revealed that the government had previously allocated 96bn/-to support entrepreneurs nationwide, but many intended beneficiaries failed to access the funds.
Dr Mwinyi pledged that under his administration, a more efficient system would be put in place to ensure the resources reach all eligible entrepreneurs.
“We want every entrepreneur, especially women and youth to access funding and operate in a supportive environment that fosters growth,” he said.
Dr Mwinyi instructed the Zanzibar Economic Empowerment Agency (ZEEA) in collaboration with the Ministry responsible for Women’s Affairs, to provide comprehensive business training before disbursing loans.
He said proper financial literacy will ensure that funds are used productively and generate meaningful income.
Dr Mwinyi also outlined plans to provide startup capital directly at the local level and simplify access to small loans in order to strengthen micro and small enterprises.
