Mwinyi pledges continued support for improved Judiciary service delivery

ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR President, Dr Hussein Mwinyi said recently that the government will continue to support the Judiciary with the aim of bringing significant reforms to the infrastructure of court buildings.

Dr Mwinyi made the statement when he placed the foundation stone for the construction of the Western District Regional Court, marking the continuation of the 61st anniversary celebrations of the Zanzibar Revolution.

He explained that the government has successfully brought about significant reforms to court buildings by using domestic funds, a move he described as a point of pride.

Moreover, President Mwinyi stated that the reforms aim at providing better services to the public in a satisfactory environment, which he believes will enhance the respect and dignity of the Judiciary.

“We have used our own funds because if we had relied on donors, we would have delayed achieving these successes,” said Dr Mwinyi.

Regarding the old Vuga Court building, President Mwinyi mentioned that it will continue to serve as a court and approved the Judiciary’s intention to turn it into a Court Museum.
