Mukwala: Simba ready to conquer new season

EGYPT: Simba striker Steven Mukwala has declared the team ready for the 2025/26 season following the completion of their pre-season camp in Egypt.

Mukwala, who returned to Dar es Salaam with his teammates on Friday, described the camp as both intense and productive, setting the tone for the campaign ahead.

“The camp went well. We trained hard and pushed each other. A few players picked up minor injuries but nothing serious. The key thing is that we are focused, united and ready for the season,” Mukwala told reporters at the airport.

The Ugandan forward also commented on the club’s new signings, encouraging fans to turn up for Simba Day, where the latest recruits will be introduced.

“I can’t say too much about the new players but I can assure the fans they are top quality. Simba doesn’t sign average players. Let them come to Simba Day and see for themselves,” he said.

The focus now shifts to the highly anticipated Community Shield clash against arch rivals Young Africans on September 16. Mukwala, experienced in derbies, stressed that Simba are going into the match with one goal: victory.

“I don’t feel pressure. I have played Yanga more than once, so I know what to expect. This season, there are no excuses we must win. It will be a tough game but we will fight hard for the result,” he said.
