Mpango: Honour God by using resources wisely
DAR ES SALAAM: VICE-PRESIDENT Dr Philip Mpango has called on Tanzanians to use the country’s resources wisely as way of expressing gratitude to God.
The Vice-President made the call when he represented President Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the Holy Mass to mark Episcopal Silver Jubilee of the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam, Jude Thaddaeus Ruwa’ichi which was held at the Mary Our Lady of Fatma Parish – Msimbazi Centre, Dar es Salaam.
He said that government leaders and civil servants have a great chance to manage the use of the country’s resources and lead Tanzanians in environmental conservation and restoration in areas which have already been degraded through burning of forests, destroying of water sources, pollution of rivers and ocean.
“It is good to thank God for his blessings by praying and fulfilling the responsibility of protecting and developing all the goodness that God has done for us… Tanzanians can thank God by protecting the beautiful country that God has given us,” Dr Mpango said.
Moreover, the VP urged Tanzanians to be responsible for thanking God for 63 years of independence, peace and harmony as well as enabling co-existence of people with different faiths, races, tribes and political ideologies.
He said it is a blessing to have a nation with good land, lakes, rivers and streams, ocean, forests, valleys and mountains, various kinds of minerals, domesticated and wild animals, birds, insects, the blessing of rain and good weather.
On the other hand, he congratulated Archbishop Ruwa’ichi for completing 25 years of bishopric while he remembers to thank God, who has blessed him with many graces and enabled him to implement his mission fully for all 43 years of priesthood of which for 25 years he has been a Bishop.
