More ministries, institutions relocate to Mtumba

DODOMA: AS the Mtumba Government City project in Dodoma approaches completion, an increasing number of ministries and public institutions are relocating their operations to the area, marking significant progress in the government’s relocation plan.

The latest entity to move is the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, according to a statement released on Thursday in Dodoma.

The ministry’s acting Head of Government Communication Unit, Mr Raymond Mushumbusi, confirmed the relocation and assured the public that all services provided by the ministry’s departments and units would continue uninterrupted from the new premises.

“The ministry wishes to inform all citizens and stakeholders that its offices have been relocated to the Government City of Mtumba in Dodoma, at the building located along Afya Road,” the statement read.

Earlier this month, the Town Planners Registration Board (TPRB) also officially moved its operations to the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development complex at Mtumba.

TPRB invited members of the public to visit its new offices, reaffirming its continued commitment to delivering core services such as ensuring transparency and certainty in the planning process and registering qualified town planners in accordance with the law.

Other TPRB tasks include promoting professional standards and public interest in urban planning, evaluating planning activities and advancing the town planning profession in Tanzania.

As of the end of June this year, the development of Mtumba Government City had reached 90.1 per cent completion, earning the project international attention for its innovative planning.

Speaking to journalists in Dodoma, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports and Chief Government Spokesperson, Mr Gerson Msigwa revealed that delegations from ten countries had visited Mtumba to study Tanzania’s approach to smart urban planning and public service delivery.
