MOI treats 1,082 brain, spine patients at Chato Clinic

CHATO: OVER a thousand patients were treated at MOI Orthopedic, Brain, Spine and Neurology clinic at the Chato Regional Referral Hospital from November 2024 to September 2025, the Executive Director of MOI, Ambassador Dr. Mpoki Ulisubisya  revealed today, September 22nd , 2025.

Speaking at the Chato Regional Referral Hospital (CZRH),Dr. Mpoki said the MOI Institute will continue to move its orthopedic, brain, spine and neurology services to the Chato Regional Referral Hospital and other hospitals as their commitment to bring these services closer to the people.

“MOI will continue to collaborate with Chato Regional Hospital to ensure that patients from the Geita region with Bone, Brain, Spine and Nerve problems are served here without having to come to Dar es Salaam,” he said.

He added, “By doing so, we will help save costs and inconvenience patients to travel long distances to access services provided by MOI.”

Reacting to Dr. Mpoki’s statement, the acting CEO of Chato Regional Hospital, Dr. Oswald Lyapa, explained that the number has been achieved from November 2024 to September 2025 and many patients from this region and neighboring regions are increasingly benefiting from this clinic.

A doctor from the Orthopedic Unit at Chato Regional Hospital, Dr. Jackson Fulani  revealed that  there were 1,082 patients who received the treatment, and  722 were orthopedic and 360 were neurological patients.

MOI will continue to build the capacity of Regional Hospitals in providing specialist orthopedic, neurological, spinal and neurological Services to ensure that specialist services are delivered closer to the citizens
