Mkuranga DC to disburse 1bn/- in loans to special groups
COAST REGION: MKURANGA District Council in Coast Region is set to begin distributing loans from 10 per cent of its total revenue collections to special groups later this year, in line with government directives.
In anticipation of this, ruling party CCM Parents Wing’s Secretary General, Mr Ally Hapi has urged the groups to utilise the loans appropriately.
Mr Hapi made this appeal during a meeting with CCM members in the district on Monday, as part of his official tour of the Coast Region.
His remarks followed a report from District Commissioner (DC) Ms Khadija Nasri, who outlined the ongoing preparations for the loan disbursement.
Ms Nasri said that the council has allocated over 1bn/- to be provided as loans to the district’s special groups for the 2024/2025 financial year.
Mr Hapi emphasised the importance of using the loans for their intended purposes.
“The government’s goal in directing each council to allocate funds for loans is to improve the lives of the beneficiaries.

It is crucial for people to be diligent and seek professional advice on how to invest wisely to ensure profitability and avoid losses,” he said.
Ms Nasri assured Mr Hapi that her office would collaborate closely with the District Council to ensure the proper use of the funds.
“We are well-organised and committed to preventing any misuse of these funds.
We will also provide additional education to beneficiaries before the loans are disbursed to minimise the risk of loss,” she stated.
