Mkombozi bank extends hands to Hanang mudslide victims

TANZANIA: VICTIMS of the last December’s mudslide got another support of construction materials worth 7.7m/- from the Mkombozi Commercial Bank.

The bank donated the materials taking into account the victims current needs after the disaster which claimed tens lives and destroyed homes at Katesh township.

Among other donated items included paints, Primer, Solvent, Red Oxide, roller brush and hand brush.

Speaking at the handing over event on Monday this week, the bank’s Executive Director Respige Kimati said they also prioritises community support apart from offering different financial services.

He said the support to Hanang disaster victims is expected to contribute to restoration after damages.

Mr Kimati thanked the government for its cooperation to the bank, pledging that the bank would continue supporting the government’s efforts in bringing development for citizens.

“We are happy to hand over these items to office of District Commissioner today so that they benefit the targeted people,” he said.

The bank used opportunity to console people who lost their beloved ones during the tragedy.

After receiving the donation, Hanang District Commissioner Janeth Mayanja, thanked the bank’s management for supporting the survivors, saying the materials would help them construct new houses.

About 108 houses are expected to start being constructed within this week, while constructions of various infrastructures have been completed including water, electricity and roads.

“We thank the Mkombozi Bank for their love and care. The Hanang District has continued returning to normal. So, these materials we have received today would go to fast-track houses construction,” Ms Mayanja stated.

She also urged the management of the bank to see how they could reach out to farmers, traders in economically empowering them.
