COAST REGION: THE Minister for Works, Mr Innocent Bashungwa, has commended Coast regional authorities for effectively utilisation of government funds and supervising development projects in line with implementation of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) manifesto.
He made the statement after inspecting various development projects in Kibaha town and Kibaha District councils during his official tour in the Coast Region last week.
During the tour, Minister Bashungwa had opportunity to inspect several projects in Kibaha Town Council including construction of a new Msangani Secondary school at the cost of more than 700m/- as well as the construction of Viziwaziwa Secondary School.
The government has already released over 500m/- for construction of four dormitories, six toilets and two classrooms at Viziwaziwa Secondary school.
“I have seen how you have spent the money that has been released by the government- sum of 1.3tri/- in implementing various development projects including construction of secondary schools, this is what our government was expecting from you”, he said.

He mentioned that, good cooperation between government and Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) leaders has created friendly environment for implementing the projects and urged the two parties to continue with the same spirit. Mr Bashungwa also inspected Kibaha District Hospital and the ongoing construction of a modern market at Mlandizi Division in Kibaha District Council which is going to cost a total of 7.7bn/- to completion.
Regional Commissioner, Mr Abubakar Kunenge told the Minister that the region was also doing well in the area of investment pointing out that there are over 1,400 industries allocated across the region.
