Migiro pushes for party awareness

DAR ES SALAAM: CCM Secretary-General, Dr Asha-Rose Migiro, has called on grassroots leaders across the country to take the lead in educating supporters and citizens about the party’s rich history, its role in liberating Tanzania and promoting national unity.
Speaking yesterday during a joint working meeting with grassroots leaders in Kinondoni and Ubungo as part of her three-day tour of Dar es Salaam, Dr Migiro stressed that well-informed members are key to the party’s continuity and relevance.
“CCM has a rich history in liberating our country and Africa at large, and in fighting racial discrimination. We must pass this legacy to the present and future generations. Grassroots members are the first classrooms teaching the party’s ideologies and history to both members and non-members,” she said.
She stressed that the main goal is to ensure the party’s lasting continuity and dominance by instilling core values in members, particularly the youth, to strengthen unity and national solidarity.
“Grassroots are the genesis of the party. There is no party built from the top. CCM will continue to grow from the bottom. Our success comes from the grassroots, they are the lifeblood of our party and assess our performance daily,” Dr Migiro said.
She linked the initiative to President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan’s bold vision for inclusive participation in building both the party and the country. Dr Migiro also reminded leaders of the legacy of Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and Abeid Amani Karume, who dedicated themselves to leading Tanzania to independence.
Dr Migiro urged grassroots members to monitor government performance and use their meetings to formulate recommendations for improving service delivery. She encouraged leaders, including MPs, to engage closely with citizens, shedding light on the implementation of the CCM Election Manifesto 2025- 2030 and the National Development Vision 2050.

“We should not isolate ourselves from our communities. Listening to citizens is an essential ingredient of good leadership. When citizens are heard, trust is built,” she added.
Ubungo Member of Parliament, Prof Kitila Mkumbo, speaking on behalf of MPs in the districts, said since their election in October, last year, they have been implementing manifesto promises, including improving roads. He highlighted his personal visits to Mabibo, Mburahati and Manzese wards to monitor progress.
Prof Mkumbo, also Minister of State in the President’s Office (Planning and Investment), said all manifesto details have been integrated into the National Five-Year Development Plan 2025/26– 2030/31, which he plans to table in Parliament in the next session.
The event attracted thousands of CCM supporters, including adults, elders and youths, dressed in green and yellow to welcome the Secretary-General. Present at the meeting were grassroots members, party leaders, ward councillors, MPs and government officials. Dr Migiro’s tour in Dar es Salaam is scheduled to conclude on January 13.
