Mayele hands goal to daughter
YOUNG Africans lethal striker Fiston Mayele has dedicated the first goal of his hat-trick against Singida Big Stars to his newly third born daughter as he brings out new dimension for the season’s golden boot chase with six goals.
He shrugged off a five-match drought with a bang after netting his first hat-trick of the season against the Singida- based side at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Thursday evening though he limped out of the pitch in the second half after picking up an injury.
“I dedicate the first goal of the hat-trick to my daughter who was born three days ago,” said the Democratic Republic of Congo striker, who has once again joined the chase for the golden boot after failing to score in the five past matches.
He also disclosed that as a striker, he found it hard to go five matches without scoring but thanked encouragements from his teammates whom he said have been uplifting him up through the though period.
So far, Mayele has scored six goals similarly to Moses Phiri (Simba), Reliants Lusajo (Namungo) and Idris Mbombo (Azam) while Mbeya City’s Sixtus Sabilo leads the top scorers’ log with seven goals to his name.
On his part, Yanga Head Coach Nassredine Nabi said despite the sound victory, there are still some shortfalls to be addressed in his team as they have not yet hit the required level of performance he would like to see.
“Winning 4-1 is not a guarantee that we fully controlled the entire game…there were moments when they (Singida Big Stars) played better than us hence, we need to go back to the training ground and sort out such weaknesses.
“Also, with the upcoming CAF Interclub games, we cannot be satisfied with the performance because we will be facing tough opponents there,” said him as he seeks to clinch a second successive premier league title at the helm of the club.
His counterpart for Singida Big Stars Hans Van Pluijm said it was a very bad day for them as his charges lacked tactical discipline thereby conceding the heavy defeat.
“Look, if we do not play with tactical discipline like we did in the last match, then expect something of this nature to happen. I think psychologically, my players were not well prepared but we still have a chance to do better,” said him.
His player Deus Kaseke also admitted that they were subdued on the day while calling on his teammates to look up for the upcoming league encounters in order to get back on the winning side.
“I think experience has judged the match…our opponent have better experience in Premier League compared to us as this is our maiden appearance and we still have many games to do better and achieve our targets,” he said after facing his former employer.
It was the first big win for Yanga this season and simultaneously, the first heavy loss to Singida Big Stars which is their third downfall of the campaign though they continue to be among the lethal teams in the league.
