KILIMANJARO: MANCHESTER United legend Bryan Robson, famously known as “Captain Marvel,” is today leading a group of 23 adventurers on a remarkable mission to climb Africa’s tallest free-standing mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro.
The trek, which will see the group ascend 5,895 metres above sea level, aims to raise vital funds for the Manchester United Foundation, supporting its education and community outreach programmes.
The group departed from Manchester Airport on Sunday afternoon and arrived at the Kilimanjaro International Airport in the Kilimanjaro region yesterday will over the next seven days navigate challenging terrains, including lush rainforests, moorlands and highland deserts, before reaching the arctic zone at the summit.

This monumental challenge showcases not only their physical endurance but also their commitment to the Manchester United Foundation’s charitable efforts. The foundation is dedicated to transforming lives through football by providing young people with opportunities in education, training and community outreach.
So far, Robson and his team have raised over £59,000 through generous donations, with supporters from around the globe contributing to this worthy cause. Manchester United has publicly recognised their efforts, offering support via social media.
The club’s official Twitter page stated, “Good luck to our group of more than 20 intrepid explorers who will spend the next week climbing to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in support of the Foundation. While the climbers are not current players, they are dedicated staff members from Manchester United, who have taken on this immense challenge to contribute to the foundation’s work.”
