ABIDJAN, IVORY COAST: Mali are the seventh side to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarterfinals thanks to a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso.
The duo met Tuesday night at Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Ivory Coast where the finals are being held.
However, the game had special attention from many Tanzanians courtesy of two players Djigui Diarra (Mali) and Stephanie Aziz Ki (Ivory Coast) who play in the country’s top flight league.
Diarra who made several sensational saves played the entire game whereas Aziz Ki was introduced in the 85th minute.
The country’s Premier League has since deployed two players Diarra and Henock Inonga (DR Congo) in the last eight phase of the unfolding AFCON finals.
