Mainland, Z’bar TR offices resolve to enhance professionalism

TANZANIA: THE Treasury Registrars in Mainland and Zanzibar, Nehemiah Mchechu and Waheed Muhammad Ibrahim Sanya respectively have agreed to enhance professionalism in overseeing public institutions for the benefit of the country.

They have also agreed to exchange workers and share experience and be a mirror of operational efficiency and participate fully in strengthening the union.

The two registrars made the resolve when Mr Mchechu visited Mr Sanya in Zanzibar. His tour of the isles is part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two offices signed in April last year.

The agreement aimed at building capacity to the registrar office in Zanzibar in overseeing public institutions by using the long-term experience gained by the registrar office in Mainland.

The TR office in Mainland was established in 1959 and to date it has more than 300 public institutions in various business and service sectors.

The TR office in Zanzibar is currently managing 17 public institutions. It was established in 2021 and it is well organised to ensure that the institutions bring efficiency in accordance with the objectives of promoting economic growth and the vision of Zanzibar President Dr Hussein Mwinyi.

Both governments, Union and Mainland have been pushing for the public institutions to contribute to the economic growth.

Mchechu also took part in the commemoration of the 60 anniversaries of the Zanzibar Revolution.
