DAR ES SALAAM: AS the golfing calendar heats up, the KCB East Africa Golf Tour is gearing up to make its mark at the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) Lugalo Golf Club in Dar es Salaam on August 3rd.
The prestigious tournament has already attracted more than 150 men and ladies’ golfers from across the country.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam, Lugalo Chairman Michael Luwongo expressed excitement about hosting the event, highlighting its significance for both the club and Tanzanian golf.
“We are thrilled to welcome the KCB East Africa Golf Tour to our club. It’s an honour to host such a prestigious tournament,” Luwongo said.
He emphasised the tournament’s unique format, where the top four finishers will earn the opportunity to represent Tanzania at the grand finale in Nairobi later this year.
“This event not only promotes and develops golf but also boosts sports tourism. Thanks to sponsor KCB Bank Tanzania, the four representatives will enjoy a fully sponsored trip to Kenya,” Luwongo added.
Highlighting the competitive aspect, Luwongo mentioned that while it’s a club tournament, golfers from other clubs are invited to participate.

He explained that the tour, which began in January and has traversed other East African countries, is now in Tanzania, aiming to fill four slots for the Nairobi finale.
“This tour aligns with KCB’s commitment to community investment through sports and social initiatives. We are focused on fostering golf development, including junior programmes,” Kimario affirmed.
Lugalo Captain Japhet Masai detailed that the tournament would feature an 18-hole stableford format, with the best gross score determining the four qualifiers to represent Tanzania in Nairobi.
The anticipation builds as golf enthusiasts and participants gear up for what promises to be a thrilling showcase of skill and sportsmanship at Lugalo Golf Club.
