Life story of 40-year-old MC Pilipili

DODOMA: EMMANUEL Mathias, widely known by his stage name MC Pilipili, one of Tanzania’s most loved comedians and master of ceremonies, who passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, on his way to Dodoma, is expected to be laid to rest today, in his hometown, Dodoma.
Born on October 1, 1985, the celebrated entertainer was going to host a wedding ceremony in the country’s capital city before his life was taken away suddenly.
A youth with many dreams and ambitions, he died at the age of 40, just at the prime age of most youth.
Born by Mathias and Mariam Matebe, Mc Pilipili was a lively, creative child who excelled in drawing, singing, dancing, and making those around him laugh.
He is among the very first comedians who introduced stand-up comedy in the country.

He graced numerous high-profile stages, including parliamentary events, major church gatherings, and international platforms. “Sherehe ni MC,” he often said, reflecting his belief that a celebration came alive through the energy of the master of ceremonies.
But his life was more than the stage. It was a journey of perseverance, innovation, and a mission to spread joy.
On June 29, 2019, he married his beloved wife Phinomena Thadey, popularly known as Cute Mena. Together, they welcomed one child, who became a new source of joy and purpose in his life.
