Launch of Cardiotan 2025 Conference: A New Era in Cardiovascular Care for Africa
Dar es Salaam: This morning, the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute hosted the launch of the highly anticipated Cardiotan 2025 Conference, aimed at transforming cardiovascular care across Africa.
The event gathered healthcare professionals, stakeholders, and industry leaders to discuss innovative solutions to cardiac problems that plague the continent.
The conference’s central theme, “Collaboration,” underscores the importance of uniting various sectors, including tourism, hospitality, and wellness, to address the pressing challenges of cardiovascular health.
As the conference builds on the successes of Cardiotan 2023 and 2024, it aims to foster a comprehensive approach to cardiac care by linking the vital connections between the body, head, and heart.
Mr Mitawi, Managing Director of Showtime, emphasized the company’s commitment to crafting a narrative that brings diverse parties together to tackle these critical issues.
“This conference will serve as a platform for networking among NGOs, hospitals, and the tourism industry, a cornerstone of Zanzibar’s economy,” he stated.

Prof Mohamed Janabi, a prominent figure in cardiovascular medicine, and Director general of the Muhimbili National Hospital highlighted the urgency of addressing cardiovascular diseases, which he noted are even more deadly than cancer, claiming more lives annually.
“We must act decisively to combat these diseases through innovative solutions and collaborative efforts,” he stressed during the launch.
The conference promises to feature powerful presentations from leading experts, showcasing cutting-edge research results that will inform and inspire attendees.

Speaking at the launch the Executive Director of thr JKCI Dr Kisenge noted that as Cardiotan 2025 approaches, the emphasis on collaboration and community engagement is set to pave the way for transformative changes in cardiovascular care across Africa.
“The conference not only aims to provide solutions but also to inspire a collective movement towards healthier futures for all,” he said.
