KIOO wins best manufacturer in mining sector award

DAR ES SALAAM: KIOO Limited, the 2024 Best Manufacturer in the Mining Sector, has credited its success to the country’s favourable investment and business climate.

The glass manufacturing company, which sources its raw materials domestically, noted that the supportive environment has enabled it to excel in production and job creation for young Tanzanians.

“We congratulate the sixth-phase government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan for fostering a business-friendly environment that empowers industries to expand production and create employment opportunities within the country,” said Jacob Msuya, the company’s Human Resources Manager.

Mr Msuya made this statement over the weekend during the President’s Manufacturer of the Year Awards (PMAYA), an event presided over by Vice President Dr Philip Mpango.

The factory was recognised as the top performer in the Mineral Sector among companies utilising locally sourced raw materials in their production activities.

The awards, presented in Dar es Salaam by Dr Mpango, gathered various industrialists and investors from across the country. PMAYA was organised by the Confederation of Tanzanian Industries (CTI) to honour the top-performing industrialists.

“It is a great honor for us to receive this award once again,” Mr Msuya said, adding, “Our industry relies on locally sourced minerals and we have consistently used these resources for our production.”

KIOO raw materials for glass production typically include silica sand, soda ash, limestone and sometimes, recycled glass cullet.
