Kibadeni sees Mukwala’s hat trick in Dar Derby Saturday

DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA: striker Steven Mukwala has been tipped to erase the long-standing record of Abdallah “King” Kibadeni by scoring a hat-trick in the coming Dar es Salaam Derby this weekend.

It is known as Dar es Salaam Derby, but in Tanzania the match between Simba and Young Africans goes nationwide as the Kariakoo Derby.

Simba’s legendary player, Kibadeni has expressed confidence that Mukwala has the potential to achieve this feat in the highly anticipated match against their traditional rivals, Young Africans on March 8, set to take place at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

After Mukwala netting a hat-trick in Simba’s victory over Coastal Union, Kibadeni believes the Ugandan forward could follow in his footsteps and set a new milestone in the famous derby.

“I have seen that he has great goal-scoring ability. If he maintains that level of performance, he has a chance to reach or even surpass my record,” said Kibadeni.

However, the legendary striker emphasized that the Kariakoo Derby is always unpredictable.

“This match is different; both teams have a chance to win. I have analyzed the performances of Simba and Yanga, and both have strong defensive and attacking units,” he added.
