DAR ES SALAAM: KENGOLD FC are determined to secure vital points as they look to revive their hopes of staying in the topflight league, with a challenging Premier League match against Simba SC today at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.
The match carries high stakes for both teams; Simba aiming to continue their impressive league run, while KenGold are eager to bounce back from recent setbacks.
Simba Head Coach Fadlu Davids expressed confidence in his team’s preparations, emphasising their focus on securing another win.
“We’ve maintained a consistent run of good results in the league and for this match, we’re approaching it with a different strategy to ensure another victory,” Davids said.
“Every game is important, and the team understand the responsibility we carry to deliver results for our fans. Simba will not underestimate their opponents, despite their position in the standings,” he added.
“Our focus is not only on winning but also on playing quality football that reflects the hard work we put in during training. The support from our fans has been incredible and we are determined to give them a performance they can be proud of,” Davids concluded.
On the other hand, KenGold Head Coach, Omary Kapilima, acknowledged the challenge of facing a strong team like Simba, but remained optimistic about his team’s preparations.
“We respect Simba for their achievements, but we are not intimidated. Our focus is on playing our game and capitalising on the opportunities we create. The players are motivated, and we have worked on strategies to counter their strengths while maximising our own,” Kapilima said.
Simba SC come into the match with momentum, having secured a 2-1 victory over CS Sfaxien in a CAF Confederation Cup match last Sunday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. In their previous Premier League outing, Simba narrowly edged out Pamba City 1-0 at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza.
Currently, Simba sit third in the league standings with 28 points from 11 matches, showcasing their strong form this season. Meanwhile, KenGold have struggled in this campaign, suffering a 3-2 defeat to Namungo FC at home in their last match.
They currently sit at the bottom of the table with just six points from 14 matches. Despite these challenges, KenGold is hopeful they can turn their season around, with today’s match presenting an opportunity for their second win since being promoted the Premier League.
